At the worlds first CO2 neutral festival in Copenhagen, CO2PENHAGEN, Fair Food Group made their concept of enhanced sustainability airborn. Two days of interactive talks proved the basic idea and helped shape the concept.

Next is now
The unique art & music festival, CO2PENHAGEN (www.co2penhagen.com), early September 2009 produced a surplus of energy in all respects. For Fair Food Group the event was a golden opportunity to face consumers and go behind the concept of combining bio, carbon footprint and fair trade. Not an easy catch anyway, but fuelled by a strong commitment and willingness to build upon a present organic platform.

Platform for joint efforts
Fair Food Group consists initially of five Danish organic food manufacturers – Naturmælk A.m.b.a. (dairy), Skærtoft Mølle (flour), Ørbæk Bryggeri (beer), Søris (vegetables) and Aalbæk Specialiteter (charcuteri). The companies complement each and join forces to move the agenda towards more sustainable food production. No one has yet changed the game and the rules as such. But Fair Food Group has the directional urge to provoke a more radical transition as a bold ambition.

Foods for thought
The take-home from the edgy festival was a support and respect for the new approach and an acknowledgement of courage in tough times.

“the choice [for consumers] becomes very obvious by wrapping three principles together”
Oleg Izyumenko, Sweden

Having said that, no quick fixes and easy wins exist. It is a matter of mutual commitment within the group and the ability to walk-the-talk. Do not send in the clowns.

Open Innovation with Fair Food Group – a non-profit co-operation among sustainable food companies

CO2PENHAGEN festival (www.co2penhagen.com) is a golden opportunity to face consumers of tomorrow and reap the benefits of people with foresight and high intellectual capital.

The platform

Fair Food Group consists of five Danish organic food manufacturers – Naturmælk A.m.b.a. But Fair Food Group has the directional urge to provoke a more radical transition. The bold ambition requires wise input from outside the R&D departments – not least from the citizens and young fellows of tomorrow. Therefore ….!

The session

The task force behind Fair Food Group invites you and your friends at CO2PENHAGEN to participate in a basic concept session

Timing is Sunday the 6th september at 01:00 until 01.45 p.m. and 03:00 until 03.45 p.m. in the EXPLORE 1 tent.

No explicit solutions or pre-determined viewpoints beforehand. Fair Food Group favours a consumer-driven approach. The market place holds the truth. Just imagine the future of the acknowledged Danish “leverpostej” – perhaps in the future made up of mashed potatoes wrapped in local seaweed only; a landmark in sustainable product innovation or just pure food recession?

The output

The deliverables of the workshop session is framing Fair Food Group and providing concept ideas to demonstrate a future viable product portfolio.

The contacts

If eager to fuel the discussion in advance, please call or SMS:
Henry Franzen tel. 045 2442 1433
mail@farre-as.dk
Alternatively join the blog and set your own scene to help transform a viable concept into reality – on the longer term.
